| A Michigan woman and her family were vacationing in a small new England town often visited by Paul Newman and his family. One Sunday morning, the woman got up early to take a long walk. After a brisk five-mile hike, she decided to treat herself to a double-dip chocolate ice cream cone.
She hopped in the car and went straight to the combination bakery/ice cream parlor. There was only one other patron in the store: Paul Newman, sitting at the counter having a doughnut and coffee. The woman's heart skipped a beat as her eyes made contact with those famous baby-blues. The actor smiled and nodded graciously, and the star-struck woman smiled demurely. Pull yourself together, she chided herself, you're fifty-five years old and a happily married woman with three children!
The clerk filled her order and she took the double-dip ice cream cone in one hand and her change in the other. Then she went out the door, carefully avoiding even a glance in Paul Newman's direction. When she reached her car, she realized that she had a handful of change but no ice cream cone. Back into the shop she went, expecting to see the cone still in the clerk's hand or in a holder on the counter, or something. No ice cream cone. Glancing around, her eyes happened again to meet Paul Newman's. He, again, gave her a friendly grin. And then he said... "You put it in your purse."

Maxine and God
 After starting a new diet I altered my drive to work to avoid passing my favorite bakery. I accidentally drove by the bakery this morning and as I approached, there in the window were a host of goodies. I felt this was no accident, so I prayed ... "Lord, it's up to you, if you want me to have any of those delicious goodies, create a parking place for me directly in front of the bakery." And sure enough, on the eighth time around the block, there it was! God is so Good.

| Sorting Events by Date |
| When we went to this format, one of the features we lost was the ability to look up all of the activities that were happening by date (today for instance). I have standardized on the date format of MM/DD/YY in the description. All results should be sorted by description as the default (they WERE sorted by Title prior to today). So when you pull up a month, or a venue for example, all events WILL end up coming up by dates. We are also expiring events the day after the event ends, so, you should get a relatively clean list of events by date. You still have the ability to sort by any column you wish on your own, but the description field will have the date(s) of the events. I still have to go back and change the description fields of the existing events to make it work right. Please feel free to send me comments and suggestions, and feel free to post any of your own events! |

| Well the crooks have found a way to rob you of your gift card balance.
If you buy Gift Cards from a display rack that has various store cards
you may become a victim of theft. Crooks are now jotting down the card
numbers in the store and then wait a few days and call to see how much
of a balance THEY have on the card. Once they find the card is
"activated", and then they go online and start shopping.
You may want to purchase your card from a customer service person, where
they do not have the Gift Cards viewable to the public.

| Era Mason's Trail Ride - May 2008 |
 Era Masonic Lodge Trail Ride is a family-oriented event that takes riders through twelve to thirteen miles of the historic Chisholm Trail in Cooke County.
The ride began at about 10 a.m., May 5 (a Saturday) and continued until 3:30 or 4 pm.
A large group of riders usually attend the event, sometimes as many as 50 or 60.
The ride took place on the GC Ranch which is located three miles west and two miles south of Era.
"We donate part of the proceeds for scholarships to graduating seniors at Era High School, usually it's three or four. We also try to donate every year to Scottish Rite Hospital in Fort Worth, and we do use some for our building's utilities, " said Tim Bullard of the Era Masonic Lodge. |
